THE CONVERTION OF A WOODEN ENGINE TO BATTERY ELECTRIC

This engine was made mostly of wood with steel wheels  and aluminium trim.

From what I can gather from various people   ,the engine was mounted in a show case and when a £1 coin was place in the slot ,the wheels and motion worked.

As only one side was to be seen the other side did not have any cylinder or valve gear.

It is my intention to face all the timber with thin steel and make  a set of cast iron spoked wheels as it had solid steel ones fitted

The tender will house three 350 watt electric motors driving three axles, the  batteries will be housed in the tender and loco giving 24 volts .

A steam sound card will be added to make it more realistic and a smoke machine .
